An Alice in Wonderland Themed Wedding

The Amazing Wedding of Hannah and Dave

A Beautiful Malvern Wedding

Hello there,

I had been waiting for the wedding of Hannah and Dave for so long it seems to me, from the very first time I met the couple I was really excited about this wedding.  First off although I will refer to it as a wedding technically it was an Humanist Ceremony.

This wedding is a prime example of the detail and planning brides put into their big day and why I feel its such an honor being asked to photograph it for them.  I remember talking to Hannah on the day itself and as you will see from the photos the attention to detail that she and Dave put in is amazing – one of the themes of the day was China Tea Cups and Hannah has spent 18 months visiting hundreds of antique shops tracking down individual cups and saucers for every guest.  There was a tie in with Up North the home to British Tea so hence the theme.

Its very rare indeed as a wedding photographer to come across something so totally different an something you have never seen before but Hannah pulled it off – her table plan was a HUGE home made paper machay tea pot with a REAL teabag at in the pot leading up to the persons name – each person took their name place and tea bag off the board to the table then after the wedding breakfast the catering staff went around with hot water and topped up everyone’s tea cup with their tea bag in it and made a delicious cup of tea – NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE – EVER !

Because this wedding was so totally different the blog post is going to be a little different also – its going to be about details and people more than story telling – The wedding took place in the middle of a field, the couple were surrounded by their closest friends and family – the guests then partied away in the field and had the time of their lives.  It was a great wedding from a photography point of view, it was very relaxing, very pretty and full of great and interesting people.

So lets start telling the story

As you may well know I have a penchant for beautiful wedding dresses and Hannah’s was truly magnificent, it was by my favorite designer – Ian Stuart Bridal – You will also know I love my taking photos of wedding dresses and I have a bit of a reputation of going to any lengths to get good shots – It seems that I also have a reputation for hanging dresses in trees etc – well lets dispell that myth right now,

For Hannah’s dress shot I took it in the garden and hung it on a Pagola, not a tree:-)– I dont take dresses outside lightly however the  I was challenged to find a spot in the house that would do the dress justice – Mum’s living room was truly stunning and I could have shot it in the window which provided some of the best views across the Malvern’s I have ever seen but the lighting was just wrong – so I asked Hannah if she would mind me taking it outside – She chuckled and said she had a feeling I would be asking that question and was expecting it. – Without batting an eyelid she said yes – I am sure I could hear MUM’s jaw hit the floor and a huge gulp but Nikki and I treated the dress with all the respect and reverence such a beautiful garment demands and returned it in pristine condition !

As I was saying earlier Hannah planned everything and had a lot of hands on input into the wedding day -  right down to as we arrived she was making the bouquet’s and sorting out the flowers – not the most glamourous photo but one that captures the shear magnitude of the task in hand

while we shot the dress Hannah finished the flowers then started on her makeup – we try to keep out of the way for these moments and shoot them more like a fly on wall so while they may not be the most perfectly posed shots they are a true representationof what happened on the couples wedding day

Well before long it was time for Hannah to pop on that beautiful wedding dress – once she was in it, we went outside for a few shots – I used those beautiful views of the Malverns I was talking about as a background

Then it was time for Hannah to make her way to the field for the ceremony – For the trip she was being driven in one of Dad’s classic car’s – I used it to frame Hannah as she walked to the car

then it was off to meet up with the groom

Take a peek at this – HOW STUNNING is this wedding venue – it has to be the best wedding venue in Malvern IMHO

and just take a look at what the inside looked like – remember pretty much everything you see was done by Hannah, Dave and friends.

The Teapot I was talking about earlier

The name places

The tea cups !

DRINK ME !

The details were not limited to the inside alone, The Tie Dave wore was made specially for him  and I used this as a backdrop to photograph the rings on

and a few shots of Dave before Hannah arrived – here with his best man just chillin

something a little more formal

and here with the boys / escorts for the bridesmaids / ushers

and before long, the bridal car comes thru the gate carrying Hannah and her dad

Then its that magical time, the time where dad takes the bride, walks her down the aisle to meet the man of her dreams – I love the expression in the second photo – I which I knew what was going thru Hannah’s mind at this precise moment

and then the one of the most amazing weddings I have photographed in a very long time

Whenever I am photographing a wedding I always keep my eyes open for something out of the ordinary – and its often children that give you some great images (more kids shots in a little while) – with eveyrones attention on the reader here in this photo, I spotted this young man watching something happening over my shoulder – he was focused so intently on it that I just loved this photo

The balloons played a big part in the wedding and in the photos (as you will see in a while) but it was pretty windy so proved a little bit of a challenge but made for great photos – I kept thinking of The Prisoner TV show  for some reason:-)  Then it was time for the big Kiss and the walk back down the aisle and for the party to begin !

Soon after this I snagged the couple for a few formal shots – well when I say formal I mean some of my more stylized or ‘signature’ type images – I loved this shot

Even dad was getting in on the action

and a few random shots of guests just having a good relaxing time and enjoying the day

And this has to be one of my favorite shots that dont include the bridal party from the day – This young man was a photographers dream – he loved the camera and followed me around for a good chunk of the day

and a few from the more formal photos taken on the day

The shot below was taken as I was taking the photo of the boys above – this was one of the reactions of one of the guests to seeing such a beefy bunch of guys in one place:-)

Then it was onto the wedding breakfast followed by the speeches – as is becoming more and more popular the bride gave a speech, this year I have had 6 brides so far give speeches – something that is taking off I think.

The Best man’s Speech – I have to say this was one of the most entertaining speakers I have seen this year – he had all of the guests attention and got a huge bunch of laughs !

Then it was time for the slideshow followed by the first dance

As you may know (if your a regular visitor to my blog) but I use a lighting assistant for a lot of my wedding photography but generally dont try to get them in the shot – but I think the lights add to this photo

Then it was outside for a couple of special photos – the sun had set a long time ago and with using creative lighting I managed to pull of a couple of GREAT portraits of the couple – The balloons are back and as I said before I think they add something special to the photos

and that was it for us, our part of the day was over – it wast time to let the couple party till the small hours but I couldnt stop myself grabbing one final shot of the wedding venue – what an amazing day I had had, it was really really  fun.  Nikki and I talked about it all the way home and still talk about it to this day – this will always be our Alice in Wonderland Wedding (not that thats what Hannah was aiming for but it has that magical quality to it for us)

Well it just leaves me to say a HUGE congratulations to the happy couple, Hannah, Dave thanks much for choosing me to be a part of your big day – next time your organizing a party on this kind of scale – give me a bell ! – Enjoy married life guys you really rock !

Hope you have enjoyed this look at the wedding of Hannah and Dave,

ciao

Claire and Nick – Engagement Shoot

Worcestershire Wedding Photography

Malvern Hills Engagement Shoot

.
Here are the happy couple – Claire and Nick – Enjoying a sunset on top of the Malvern Hills – something I am sure they doubted would ever happen !

worcestershire wedding photography

Not for those reasons but Claire and Nick seem like my ‘Bogey Couple’ – For one reason or another we had planned to shoot last weekend but it never happened, then today we met up at 4pm (the clocks went forward today so it was actually 3pm) All was going well till I found out I had left a battery I needed for the shoot on the table at home -  I felt like a dick I have to be honest.  I packed off Claire and Nick for a drink and offered to buy them lunch while I grabbed another battery (Nikki was bringing one over for me but the whole thing would take about an hour) – well an hour later, battery in hand and ready to shoot – we met up again at the base of British Camp in the Malvern Hills.

I think sometimes god was smiling down on me as that hour allowed the harsher sun to dissipate a little  and we had beautiful soft directional light – with a great golden colour and softness to it. – we set off for our hike up the hills.  Claire (or Kate) as I knicknamed her due to what I see as a resemblance to Kate Middleton (Our future Queen)  and Nick are a GREAT fun couple who were up for anything including playing football on top of the Malvern hills.

So here you go, a few from today – I am thrilled to bits with the photos, I told Claire and Nick that I would have them up for them to see in the morning so at the time of posting I dont know what they think of them !

enjoy.

Oh, Claire, Nick – Thanks much for being so patient, I am sure it was not easy:-)  but it was so worth it……….

As we were walking back to the car, I spotted a gate, I had Claire climb on top of it, then just as I was about to take the photo, the dog you see came running over and wanted some love.

Just after we left the hills, we rounded a corner just as the sun was setting – we pulled over on the side of the road jumped out and shot 3 photos, by the time we got to number 4, the sun had set.

Hope you enjoy this sneak peek.

Sneak Peek – Ragley Hall Wedding Photography

The wedding of Toni and Paul

wedding photography by David Purslow

Hello there, David here from www.davidpurslow.com

Saturday saw me shooting a wedding pretty close to home, the wedding taking place in Worcester with the wedding reception at the stunning Ragley Hall wedding venue.  The bride was getting ready at Malvern Spa in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Both Helen and I agreed that this was one of our favorite weddings of the year, the couple were so into photos, the guests were in party mode, the Vicar was THE BEST VICAR we have ever worked with and Ragley Hall is the most amazing Warwickshire wedding venue.

The vicar was so cool that he even told a joke half way thru the wedding:-)

From the time we turned up till the time we left the whole day was a total blast and it was so so so so obvious that Toni and Paul are so smitten and totally in love with each other that the day just ooozed love.

here are a few sneak peeks  – Enjoy.

Getting Married at the Elms Hotel

Ben and Zena Getting Married at The Elms Hotel

.
PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE ALSO ADDED A REVIEW OF THE ELMS HOTEL TO OUR WORCESTERSHIRE WEDDING VENUES GUIDE

click ->   GETTING MARRIED AT THE ELMS HOTEL to visit the review

Wow how the time has flown by.  This is 100% true, Zena and Ben are good friends our ours and I was honored and delighted when Zena asked me to be her wedding photographer.  Considering all the great wedding photographers in Worcestershire who cover weddings in Stourport, Kidderminster and Great Whitley you can understand way I was so excited.

The wedding was taking place at the beautiful Elms Hotel in Abberley in Worcestershire – just outside of Stourport on Severn. – Whats funny is that at the time I was living and working in west wales.

Nikki could not come with me unfortunately due to Joshua being sick and that was a real shame.  So I drove up the night before and stayed at my sisters house the night before to be nice and fresh for Zena & Bens big day.

Well the wedding was fantastic – if your planning on getting married at The Elms its a beautiful Worcestershire wedding venue and makes for a photographers dream – Ben and Zena had arranged for me to say at the hotel the night of the wedding as it was going to be a really long one – I started at around 8am and finished just before 11 pm after the fireworks.

Why is this post funny to me – well for many reasons.

Zena and Ben’s wedding was actually the very first wedding I posted on my blog – in fact it was the very first blog post ever by me ! and its back again now that I am a Worcestershire wedding photographer and updating my website.

Another reason is that now I am living in Hartlebury just outside of Kidderminster & Worcester  in Worcestershire, this year I am travelling down to West Wales for over 20 weddings.

I do cover weddings all over the UK however as a West Midlands wedding photographer who lives in Worcestershire I am hoping that couples getting married in 2011 and 2012  who are looking for a reportage wedding photographer stumble across my site.  Now that I am based in Worcestershire over the next year or so I only have a few weddings up this way and all the rest down in West Wales.  – I am hoping to book a lot more weddings at The Elms Hotel as it really is a pretty venue and a great place to take photos of so if your planning on getting married at The Emls visit my Worcestershire wedding photography page.

If you follow me on a regular basis you will know I am currently working on my blog so I wanted to test out the new gallery feature of the site and cold think of no better wedding to showcase than Ben and Zena.

Since this is new to me, for some reason the last photo in the album has become the first photo in the gallery – DUH – I will keep working on it.

Anyway I hope you like the new way of showing off a collection of images

Here is is, The wedding of Ben and Zena at the Elms Hotel, Abberley, Worcester – actually its the wedding photos from the The Elms:-)

Enjoy.

Hummm there still seems to be a bit of an issue with the gallery – I am working on it !

Hello there, dp here from www.davidpurslow.com- I offer wedding and portrait photography for Birmingham and Worcestershire.

David Purslow Photography has just arrived in the Birmingham & Worcester areas, originally based in West Wales I relocated to Hartlebury just outside of Kidderminster in February 2010.  I am a professional wedding photographer with over 10 years in the wedding photography industry.  My style is a mix of reportage, documentary and traditional wedding photography wrapped up in a shooting style that is very modern, fun and artistic.  I love to create stunning and beautiful bridal portraits, family shots and what I call my signature images – these are visually stunning and emotionally powerful wedding photos that make for great wall art.

Over the next few months I will be running lots and lots of special offers to get the name out there.

So whats todays post all about ?

Boudoir Photography for the Birmingham & Worcester areas.

What does Boudoir Photography have to do with Wedding Photography and why is a Birmingham Wedding Photographer offering it ?

The answer to that is simple, at the moment bridal boudoir photography is very popular.  Brides have always looked for something very special to give to their fiance either on the actual wedding day or on the night before the wedding. Around a quarter of my brides choose to have a boudoir session and I even get inquiries  from girls who recently got married and the option for a shoot was not available at that time.

The idea behind the bridal boudoir kind of photography is to create something exciting and sexy to share with the man of your dreams, a little teaser if you like.  The kind of boudoir photos I take are more akin to sexy and erotic shots rather than nude or topless shots.  Boudoir photography is there to give him something to tease him and excite him and let him know just how lucky he is to be marrying you !

Boudoir photoshoot normally last around 2 – 4 hours to allow for 2 or 3 changes of outfits etc.  After the photot shoot you will see proof’s online within   7 days and these will be hidden inside a password protected part of the website – ONLY you will have the address.  You can choose to have photos from your boudoir session, albums, pocket books or even large wall prints  / canvases / acrylic prints etc…

Very popular are little black books in either an 8×8 or 10×10 inch size with a collection of photos beautifully displayed within.
