Wedding Rings – love love love

Wedding Ring photography.

So this past weekend we found ourselves in Staffordshire at the amazing Barton Marina.  We were photographing the wedding of Dan and Tracy and we had a fabulous day.  We had as we always do a good long chat a few days before the wedding and got an idea from the couple what shots really floated their boat  (sorry for the pun!!)

We find one of the most requested shots from our brides is a great ring shot.  Not actual shots of the wedding rings themselves but shots of the ring that started the couple on the journey that brought them to this moment in time and in becoming husband and wife.

Last weekend we managed to produce three different looks in around five minutes.  All shot were taken within the same location.  All the photos had the same ambient lighting conditions and we only used props that we found laying around..

For the first photo, we took a mirror off the wall, popped the wedding ring on it and put her flowers in the background.

for the second shot, we place the ring inside one of the roses from her bouquet

and the third and final image, my personal favorite is one with the top of her make up bottle, I wanted this to be dramatic so placed a black marble cutting board as the background.

All 3 of these shots were actually taken on the kitchen sink.

In Picture 3, you can see the white stripes, well they are Venetian blinds in the kitchen window.

Interesting colors and textures are things we as photographers are trained to always be on the lookout for. But on a normal, non-macrophotography basis, we’re usually thinking of walls, sunsets, or other large backdrops. Keep in mind that, with your ring shots, you now have the luxury of taking almost anything and making it a background, from a piece of cloth to a purse to a party favor to a bouquet.

Nailcote Hall Wedding photography – Photo of the Week September 2nd 2013

The photo of the week today comes from an amazing wedding reception at Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire.  This venue is amazing and if your planning on getting married at Nailcote Hall you will not be short of amazing wedding photo locations.  The whole hotel / golf course makes for some beautiful wedding photos.

I was helping out my good Friend Sean O’Shaughnessy shooting the wedding reception of Carla and Andy.   With Nailcote being such a great location and with the weather playing ball, at the very last minute we decided to shoot a signature image on the green !

We were battling fading light and in the 5 minutes it took to get this shot we went from a shutter speed of 1/200th to 1/60th – thats how quick the light was changing.

Delighted with the results however I decided to share it with you as the photo of the week !

Photo of the week – August 26th 2013 – Red House Barn Wedding Photography

Hey there,

Yesterday I was at the amazing RedHouse Barn Stoke Prior for the wedding of Sara and Matt.  I cant wait to share the photos with you as they are just simply amazing.  However as the couple are still away on honeymoon, I thought I would just pop one up as the photo of the week.

The couple married at Redhouse Barn and also had the reception there, so this allowed for plenty of time to work out where and when to shoot the photos, not that this has anything to do with the photo of the week this week.  Its strange but this is the first Cake Cutting photo to make the photo of the week.

Its traditional at Redhouse for the couple to cut the cake prior to the first dance, so I had lit the dance floor with 4 lights, and paying particular attention to where the cutting of the cake would take place.

This was the result

Greek Wedding Photography Birmingham – Photo of the Week August 19th 2013

Hello there,

This year has seen me shooting a lot of Greek Weddings in Birmingham, with wedding receptions at the Motor Cycle Museum in Birmigham just off the M42

I simply love this photo from an amazing wedding I helped my good friend Sean O’Shaughnessy photography last week.   Sean and I have been working together on Greek Weddings (typically 200 – 500 guests) so having 2 photographers and an assistant works really well and it enables us to give the couple amazing photos.

I had seen a similar shot to this several years ago and always thought, Ohhh I like that.  so when during the wedding service it came time for the bride to kiss the Gospel I waited and waited and eventually was rewarded with this shot.

I hope you like.

the settings are ISO 4000, 125th Sec F2.4 @ 85mm

POTW – 4th August – 2013 – Julie and Michael Wedding at Plough & Harrow

Hello there folks !,

This is a bit of a cheat but through the wonders of time travel and the magic TARDIS I have hidden away in the studio, the photo of the week this week actually comes from a wedding I am shooting in a weeks time ! – confused ?????

Well I missed the post last week but slotted this one in.  I shot two weddings this weekend and on Saturday I shot the amazing wedding of Julie and Michael, I cant wait to blog the whole thing as the whole day was magical including the Mad Hatters tea party at the Plough and Harrow in Birmingham.

My photo of the week this week was taken at dusk, I have tons of great shots of Julie and Michael but this one really captures, or at least I feel it captures the couple as they really are.  The couple just like their day are so much fun and the day was filled with GREAT emotion I have never had so many hugs and kisses before and thats just from Michael, and again never before have I had a bride during her speech to a packed room say ”  Now that I am a a married woman there is only one other man I would take all my clothes off for, and thats David, our photographer………”  The room erupted  !

Anyway back to this photo, one of my last photos shot on their wedding day, so I had been with them for around 10 ish hours by this point.  The meal had been eaten, speeches had been done, evening guests had arrived and I was still stealing them away for the odd photo or two.  Not once did it seem like a bother to them to come for just one more photo ! – The joy and the happiness is evident for all to see, this is not a fake look this way and give me a giggle kind of photo, Julie and Michael were like this all day.  I could fill my photo of the week with photos from there wedding alone for the next year without any problems.

Just before their first dance I put on the slideshow for the couple and their guests, and I love watching them myself, well I have to tell you by the end of the slideshow I had a little tear myself remembering the day.  What a fabulous couple, day and bunch of friends.

Julie, Mike, You guys rock ! and you reminded me time and time again why I LOVE this just, why I do it and why its so important to get it right !

Lots of love and hugs !

me.

The amazing Julie and Michael
