Nice bridal portrait by David Purslow – Pembrokeshire Wedding Photographer

Hello there peep’s David here from www.davidpurslow.com – As I guess you can see, I am working my socks off on the site and the blog since Christmas.  I have great plans for the website and the blog,  and its going to be updated all time time ! – I will also start putting a few one line plugs in for my wedding photography services as I am trying to get the message out that I not only cover pembrokeshire and west wales as a wedding and portrait photographer but that I will travel all over the UK and Europe and the USA for weddings and portrait work !

I also know for a few days some of this imgae may be cut off by the menu over ——> but thats because I am going to be adding bigger images to my blog and doing away with that menu soon !!!!!!!

Here is today’s photo – Its of a bride I shot in the summer of 08 – I love the soft dreamy look of this portrait, if you want visit my facebook page – David Purslow and become my friend !!!!!!!  I post on there all the time also and it has stuff I dont put on the blog – I have 70 friends right now as I dont require people to become a friend to see my photos but I would love to get my friends numbers up – why ?  Its a guys thing I think.

Okay here is a portrait of the stunning Zoey – she married Alex last summer and this shot was taken just as she arrived at the church – Zoey was beaming from ear to hear and looked amazing – when I saw her looking out of the Rolls Royce towards her bridesmaids with this big wide eyed look, I knew right away it would make an amazing portrait.

hope you like it !

Ciao

WANTED – Brides looking for that something extra…….

Hello there, David here from www.davidpurslow.com

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG POST BUT I URGE YOU TO READ IT!

As 2009 kicks off to a flying start, I thought I would share a few images with you from my trip to Venice.  I went to Venice in October to learn from one of the greatest wedding photographers in the world.  Yervant is someone who I have studied and followed for years, I have his entire collection of tutorial DVD’s, watched all his documentary movies etc and even read his book but being there and learning from the master himself was something special for me.

I went to Venice because I feel the UK wedding photography market is ready for something just a little bit more special, I think UK brides are ready to take their albums to the next level.  Traditionally wedding albums have always been about the bride and groom, the whole day and the whole family as well, that’s what I shoot week in and week out and there is nothing at all wrong with it in fact it’s exactly what everyone wants and expects BECAUSE they know no difference – until now !.

So what is the next level, well it’s what American and Australian couples have been doing for the last few years, often there are two albums, a traditional wedding album just as described above and then a fine art album just focusing on the bride and groom.  The best a bride will ever look is normally her wedding day, having spent many hundreds or even thousands of pounds on the perfect dress, the makeup, the hair, the nails, the shoes, the jewelry and not forgetting that all important accessory – the bridal smile – the groom looks good also,  after all he had a shave and puts on a great looking suit and he gets to look at the most beautiful girl in the world for a whole day with great expectations of what lies beneath the wedding dress 🙂

The next level is all about creating an album that encompasses all the bride and groom is about, the effort each has put into their special day, the beauty, sensuality and sexuality of the bride, the and it’s not a word I use (or spell) easily masculinity of the groom and combining this with some great location.  Yes it’s a make believe fairytale story book just about the bride and the grooms big day BUT it’s the book EVERY bride since first reading or hearing the story of Cinderella has secretly dreamed about – it’s the boutique fine art wedding album that until now has only existed (for UK brides at least) in make believe.

There are sacrifices that need to be made to be able to create such a work of art, the photographer (hopefully me) needs a lot more of your time but the results will last a lifetime and will truly become a family heirloom.  Often in the USA and Downunder the bride and groom do ‘the fine art shots’ early in the day way before the wedding – yes that means the groom seeing the bride before the wedding itself but there is always a huge unveiling of bride to the groom so the excitement and the grooms reaction is the same and many couples actually say it’s a much more intense moment since they don’t actually have to worry about the clock, the wedding official etc.  Often the fine art shots are taken after the wedding itself with the bride and groom as well as the immediate bridal party slope off for an hour or two before going to the wedding reception.  A lot of US couples actually do these shots the day after the wedding, bride’s love this because they are not so worried about getting the dress a little dirty or creased and hell, it’s a GREAT excuse to put the dress on all over again! – Why be a princess for a day when you can be a princess for a whole weekend? So this all means the ‘traditional wedding day’ plans need to be altered a little.  Normally in the UK there just isn’t enough time put aside to create these works of art alongside the normal wedding album also.  The good news is the bride and groom still get to spend the day with their friends and family just less a couple of hours – so the big question is what do they get back in return?

If you take a peek at the pictures attached – and you will see exactly what I mean.  I should point out that on the actual training course there were 20 photographers and 6 models, we were in groups of 5 photographers and each group had the models for 20 minutes each – a total of EXACTLY 2 hours – that’s right all the photos you see here were shot within a 2 hour time frame.  The ones at night naturally were shot later that same day after a dinner break but all of these photos were shot within a 2 hour period.  I came home with 800 + images from the course and have managed to get it down to these few just to give you a taster of what can be done when you have a couple of hours and a couple without all the distractions associated around the wedding timetable.

After you have looked at all these photos and there will be a LOT – close your eyes for a couple of minutes and try to imagine a fine art photo album made up of 30 – 40 fantastic rich colorful images and amazing black and white photos and then think just how fantastic that album would be as a record of you and your partners very special day – it’s not the wedding album, you get that also, this is just something a little special just for the two of you to keep forever and pass down through the generations…………

Interesting idea isn’t it? – want to know more, drop me an email to david@davidpurslow.com

Feast your eyes and enjoy my vision of Venice.

Hope you enjoyed the show – drop me a line and lets talk about creating you a fine art album all of your own.

ciao

Yet another fantastic testimonial

Hello there again, still david here from yes you guessed it www.davidpurslow.com

As you can see i am burning the midnight oil here in Pembrokeshire as the new year kicks off to a great start.  Had a couple of emails already from prospective brides and it looks like between Christmas and the New Year a few of you lucky ladies got some nice new diamonds to help celebrate with !

Okay, of all the testimonials I received in 2008, this by far is the one that brought a HUGE lump to my throat. Its because of this reason I have not put it up yet, I thought long and hard about it but decided that for 2009 I would add it as it really brings home just how important actually having a photographer at your wedding rather than a family member or friend to take a few pictures.  I HOPE none of you have to discover the value of photos that Sian had too so soon after her wedding.

I had the greatest pleasure of shooting the wedding of Sian and Simon earler in 2008, if I remember correctly it was the first of my weddings at the Beggars Reach Hotel in Burton Pembrokeshire in 2008.

One of the photos she is talking about in her email to me is the one shown below both the having it taken and the final outcome of the photo.  In the version Sian had for her wall blown up really big, I removed the curtain hanging down and cleaned up the image a lot, the image shown below has been taken directly off the wedding preview post I put up earlier last year that can be see here if you like.

Here is Sian’s Email – Sian god bless you and I hope you and Simon had a great new year X

Ciao

Hiya…

Well….i couldnt wait! Im surprised ive lasted as long as i have……

I went and took the wedding photos to my mum…..And she absolutly loved them!

Now my mum is a very crictal person
But not a bad word or remark …..she couldnt find anything wrong with any of the photos!

I did say to you, that we wanted to enjoy our wedding photos, without family barging through the front door to look at them…but i couldnt resist!
I had to show someone…..!! So i took them to my mum then my sister…and so on….

The photo of me standing on the stair well at beggars reach was one omf my mums favourites, she said that it looks like something you would see in “Hello” magazine! WOW!

And the one of me lying on the bed…she loves that too….so do i…..!! I love them all….

I can pick which is our favourite, which is the one with Simon kissing my chest….now as elegant as it may look, my back was killing me (i suffer from a bad back anyway) Simon was stood on my shoes AND my dress….and all simon was saying was im gonna fall and drop you…..So from me through gritted teeth telling simon to get off my dress….came this gorgeous stunning photograph. We didnt think it would be that good.Till you shown me on the camera what it looked like….
It’s something you think you would only see in magazines…. FANTASTIC.

I love looking at them, i love sitting there watching people flicking through the photos and see there face go into a big grin and then “oh my god you look like something from a magazine.”

Now i know why you love to see the brides face!

And as you know, my dad suddenly and shockingly passed away 2months after we married at the age of 43, and right at the end was a big picture of my dad standing there doing his speach (which he was making up as he went along!)…..Now that is most certainly something i will always treasure – who knew that, that day you would capture our last ever family photos, with my mum 2 sisters and brother.

So just that one photograph in itself would of been enough! So David i really am truly grateful for your fantastic photography.

The other photo was when dad was leading me into the ceremony, where he has his arm out and a perfect picture of how(im my mums words) proud he looks to be walking me down the aisle……

So not only have you provided me and simon with a perfect reminder of our fantastic wedding day, you have also given us (especailly me) from just one day ,a life time of memories……and im getting all teary now!

Thankyou sssoooooo soooo much for photographing our very special day. We couldnt of gotten a better nicer man than you to have done them

I could give you a huge hug right now!!

Thankyou (again and a million times more)

Sian ans Simon.

First post of 2009

Hello there, David her from www.davidpurslow.com

Today I spent most of the day working on a wedding album from a wedding I shot around August time last year.  The wedding took place at Star with a reception at the fabulous Rhos-Y-Gilwen  Mansion (Rhosygilwen Mansion) in Pembrokeshire.

While working on files for the album I came across this photo, I am only going to share one with you at the moment as the preview has been up for a few months now and once the final album design is completed that will be posted also but this image is one of my favorites from 2008 – I just love the look on Zoey’s Face at the giant Jenga starts to fall.

Enjoy,

Ciao
