Hi there, following on from my recent post about needing YOUR help to decided if I should move the Boudoir Photography onto its own website I received a couple of emails asking what Boudoir Photography is and how I define it.

Since that’s a really great question I thought I would share my thoughts and a few examples on the subject.

The kinds of photographs typically range from fine-art lingerie to fine art implied nudes, depending on what you’re comfortable with (and how much of a show you want to tease him!) As the name implies, lingerie photos include your bra and panties. Implied nudes, known in the modeling industry as “FHM / Nutz / Zoo” after the men’s magazine known for the look, may show you from behind, or covering your breasts with your arms, hands, or one of his shirts etc.

Bridal Boudoir – This is all about the lady giving her man something very special the night before the wedding – its a tantalizing way of building the anticipation of what awaits her groom. Speaking from a guys point of view, the less is more philosophy is what works here but in reverse – The less you actually reveal the more erotic the viewing experience is for your partner.

Sexy Boudoir Photography – The typical client for this kind of photography is either a single girl or a married lady, who want sexy but tasteful and elegant photographs of themselves shot. Many clients have had a secret fantasy of being a Page 3 model or appearing in a Lads Mag. The problem has always been where to go and who can you trust to shoot it and be discrete about it.

Private and Confidential Service - One of the major concern with this type of photography is who actually get’s to see the photos. Following your photo shoot the images are hidden on a totally different website and behind a very secure password protected gallery ONLY you have access to – They are online for only 30 days to allow you to choose your favorites and order your finished photographs / albums / enlargements etc. Once you have finalized your order the online gallery is removed. If you prefer we will physically proof for you (Give you a box full of proof photographs) and the images will never go online – Naturally your boudoir photography session photos DONT form part of your wedding album

Where does it take place ? -Bridal Boudoir Photography takes place in the privacy of your home, your bedroom, or in the space you choose. It can take many forms depending on your level of comfort or personality. Make it playful or sultry, subtle or shy. Since typically the photography is aimed as a gift for a loved one being shot in familiar locations add that personal touch to the photographs rather than just being shot in a cold and uninviting studio. It can take place days or weeks before the wedding day, in your wedding gown, one of his shirts or if he is the Armed Forces, Police, Fire Brigade etc why not use his uniform- Its not about boas, overdone make-up and soft focus filters blurry photos. This is all about you; you at your best and feeling sexy while creating wonderful images to for your partner for yourself to enjoy for years to come.
