Radio Pembrokeshire’s Little Stars – Winners Portraits

Hello there, David here from www.davidpurslow.com – I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.  One of the best parts of being a portrait photographer in West Wales is the access to amazing backgrounds etc.  This has led me to try to create wall art not just photographs, when I shoot portraits I like to give the person receiving the portrait something they will cherish forever, something that should be mounted on a wall and printed nice and big.

I think the saddest thing that can happen to a photographs  is that it is placed in drawer and only pulled out once in a blue moon.  In my humble opinion if a photograph is important enough to be taken then it should be viewed and enjoyed just like a work of art.

Well this morning I met up with one of the winners of the Radio Pembrokeshire Little Star’s Contest held by 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire back in the summer.  I was not the photographer they had run the competition with however for one reason or another they called me and asked if I would shoot the portraits of a couple of the winners.

Well as I said this morning I met up with Rachel and her boy (whose name for the life of me I can spell !) – Sorry O !

When I shoot lifestyle portraits I like to use locations that are personal to the clients and over the past few weeks Rachel has been thinking of the perfect spot for the photos of O and a couple of mum and O.

Rachel opted for one of my favorite locations Newgale beach just outside of Haverfordwest and a fabulous spot for family and children’s portraits.

Its was a really nice morning (for a photographer) but a little bit cold (you would never have guessed it by the way O went dashing straight into the water – I wanted to shoot a good variety of images for them so we played around for about 40 minutes or so.  By the time we had finished O and Rachel were soaked to about knee height after running and splashing around in the water.

Here are a few from the session, I hope this gives you an idea of the kind of portraits you can get with a little imagination and willingness to play around on cold but crisp morning.

I am going to be offering a special offer on lifestyle portraits in November for the run up to Christmas, so this kind of portrait appeals to you either keep an eye on my BLOG  or click here to send me an email and I will email you over the details.  I am only offering 10 sittings to guarantee getting your photos well in time for you to give them away for Christmas presents.

Hope you enjoy,

Some lovely photographs, there, David – a real sense of atmosphere, and the one with the boy jumping in the air, with his reflection in the wet sand, is excellent!

It’s making me seriously consider getting some portraiture done meself…! 🙂
