Storybook albums from companies such as Graphi and Bellissimo make for great wedding albums - In recent years the story book wedding album (coffee table book / coffee table story book / coffee table wedding album) has become very popular.
The advantage of a storybook wedding album is you can include many more wedding photographs in your wedding album, each design layout can be different and your wedding album will have a unique look - feel free to click here to see examples of pages from our story book wedding albums

Contemporary wedding photography involves having the cutting edge in photographic techniques and styles. Currently this involves informal photojournalism (whether posed or not) that gives more genuine emotions and reactions. From here artistic styles may or may not be applied to the original image to enhance the effect of the photograph. Most of comtemporary wedding photography aims for candid shots from a distance, usually catching original moments.
Posed photography, such as in formals, are usually only for family portraits. Even bride and groom pictures are done using posed photojournalism, where the photographer instructs the couple initially and then captures the couple being natural in that position. Here in Worcestershire, Birmingham, Staffordshire and The west midlands as well as Gloucestershire and the cotswolds photographers at the high-end all use posed photojournalism combined with photojournalistic candid photos and artistic, dramatic perspectives.
Photojournalistic Wedding Photography, Reportage Wedding Photography or Documentary Wedding Photographers Wales
Over the past twenty years, photojournalism has become an extremely popular style of wedding photography. Here the focus is on covering the entire wedding day as it unfolds, unscripted and un-posed. There may be an emphasis on black and white photography with a mix of color. This style became popular around the time that wedding photographer Dennis Reggie coined the phrase "Wedding Photojournalism" around 20 years ago. This style was first popularized with 35mm film cameras and now most photojournalistic wedding photographers switched to digital cameras. Photojournalism aims ro the story of your day as it unfolds, with each wedding photographed more organically.
Gloucestershire wedding photographer
I borrow from each of the above styles to create a comprehensive photographic experience of your wedding day. My primary focus during the day is to capture the authentic and meaningful moments as they happen. Unlike strictly photojournalistic wedding photographers, I know your family is important to you and I take time to take traditional portraits of them, professionally and quickly so that you may fully participate in your wedding day. I work with you to fit these portraits into a 15-20 minute session. Either after the formal portraits, or at an earlier time in the day, I'll spend time with the two of you to take illustrative photos that show you at your best. When time is allowed and we can stay on schedule, I giving my clients the bonus gifts of fashion style wedding photography too.
In short, am I a wedding photojournalist? Yes, I'm that and much more!
If my comprehensive style appeals to you, let’s talk!

New for the 2009 / 2010 season is the introduction of Engagement Sessions or E-Sessions. These E-Session typically last around a half day and are a great way for all of us to get to know each other a little bit better. They are typically romantic hand in hand (yours not mine) walks along the beach or in a local park etc, I have shot E-Sessions in fancy coffee shops, trendy bars, down by the marina, with peoples favorite pets etc. Normally you would be wearing casual clothes like jeans, shirts etc. They are a great way to get used to being in the limelight and the images from this shoot can be used to create a guest signing book, a small album or just some really nice photos for the two of you to keep.

"Having started my wedding photography career in The United States of America, and having spent 10 years shooting weddings in New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida my natural style of wedding photography is slightly different to most you will see here in the UK.
Americans by definition don’t have the "English Stiff Upper Lip" and as such have never really gone in for the Formal type of wedding photos we traditionally have had here in the UK. American brides are very demanding when it comes to their wedding photos and want the entire day captured. It’s not uncommon to take between 800 to 1200 photos at an American wedding.
Why am I telling you this? Well the answer is simple. I shoot a style of wedding photography that has become part of me, it’s the way I was taught initially and it’s the way I have shot all of my wedding photography career. The style is commonly called "Reportage" or "Photojournalistic” In recent years (thanks mainly to the internet) English brides have started to enjoy this style of wedding photography and English photographers have had to change and learn a totally new method of shooting.
For me however it’s not a "style" of wedding photography its just what I do, and its instinctively the way I approach shooting any wedding.
I don’t want to be a part of your wedding day, I don’t want to direct your wedding day, I don’t want to change your wedding day and I defiantly don’t want to interfere with it, all I want to do is document it, capturing all the special moments, the excitement and the happiness you only get when two people who truly love each other become one couple.
On your wedding day I carry at least 2 camera's - One is always colour and the other is set for black and white. As you will see by looking at the photos on my website, black and white images capture and convey moments from you wedding day in a special way. If you don't like black and white images then please let me know prior to the wedding.
Your Wedding Album
The approach I like to take is to offer you a fantastic hand made custom designed wedding album. I only use albums created by the worlds leading album manufacturers. Every album is unique as I don't use the templates. I actually create each wedding album from scratch to make sure you get a totally custom and unique wedding album you will LOVE and Cherish forever.
I try to make each wedding album a true re-telling of your wedding day as seen through the lens of my cameras. The idea behind it is, that if you share your wedding album with someone who was not there, they would get the same feelings and excitement as though they were part of your wedding party. The images flow in a natural progression telling the story of your wedding day from preparation to completion.
The benefits to you are numerous, firstly you only need to pay a fixed fee for the time I spend at your wedding and not a price for each photo you choose. You get your album MUCH quicker this way, typically your album should be ready for collection between 6-8 weeks after the wedding, a little longer in June, July and August or other busy times.
When a bride / Groom chooses the whole layout it can take 8 - 12 months to finalize the wedding album.
Wedding photographers in Worcestershire
Details, Details, Details - its all in the Detail....
The art of telling the story of a wedding through photographs, is the art of capturing the little things, all those details that go into making up the big day. As a story book wedding photographer I have the perfected the art and can produce the perfect story book wedding album. Having spent years working as a press photographer covering professional football, concerts and breaking news, I have developed a knack of knowing when something is going to happen. Its all these little details that are quite often are missed by brides and grooms on their wedding day as they concentrate on the bigger picture, that when they see them in their story book wedding album, they bring back all the memories
At a wedding you will find me in the wings, on the sidelines, stalking the bride and groom like a big game hunter stalks his prey, as I said before apart from the formal pictures I don't want to interfere with you wedding day and I definitely don't want to direct it. The greatest compliment a bride can give me is telling me that she never noticed me during the wedding day.
Letting me know what you want
Some brides want coverage of themselves getting ready whilst others want coverage from the arrival at the church. Its the bride and grooms day so whatever you want, if its within your budget I am happy to oblige. I always like to meet up with brides before the actual wedding day however as more and more brides are booking myself via the internet and the distances I travel are increasing that's not always possible. I will always spend time on the phone with these brides as its vitally important for me to know exactly what it is you would like in terms of your wedding photos. That way I will create your story book wedding album, telling the story you want told and my hope is you will want to show it to everyone you know - especially other who are planning on getting married.
On the following page is information about my prices etc., but for the rest of this page I have created a little guide for you on choosing a wedding photographer. I would recommend that you read this however If all your interested in is the prices etch, then click HERE
How to choose YOUR wedding photographer in west wales.
1. Choose someone who's wedding photos you really like
I know this sounds kind of dumb, but all too often I hear from Nikki who is a member of the "Hitched Forum" stories of brides who booked someone to shoot the wedding that is a family member with a new camera, a family friend or someone who takes really nice pictures.
That's all well and good however the only record of your day will be the photos and video (if you have one). After investing thousands of pounds on the day, PLEASE for your sake not mine, don't ruin it by getting photos that don't do you, your wedding and your wedding day justice.
Capturing the details of a wedding is something that takes years to learn, not something you pick in by going to a few weddings as a guest.

2. Choose a photographer who you kinda like.
Again I know this sounds kind of dumb but just think about this - on your wedding day the photographer is the one person who spends more time with you than ANYONE ELSE - If its full coverage, when the bride is getting ready, we will be there with her, when she sets off, we are there, when she arrives, we are there, when she is biting her nails just prior to walking into the wedding location, you guessed it, we will be there. When you sneak off for 5 minutes, guess what, we sneak off with you, when you cry (and most brides do...) we should be there to capture it. When all the guest go get seated and its just you and your husband / wife, remember it will actually be you, your wife / husband and the photographer.
A good photographer will stick to you like glue but be almost invisible - I liken it to being a secret service agent. Always there to take care of the little things but never in the way !
Make sure you can get along with your photographer, don't just tolerate him/her it will end up showing in your photos.
3. Browse wedding photographers portfolios - Very important fact.
Whoever you choose, ask to see samples of their work, ask to see proofs, albums, and final prints. Ask to see Enlargements. Didn't just take a look at a few photos, look at a lot. Remember this is the ONLY chance you will have of capturing your day, get it right.
While your looking thought the portfolios if you see a photo you really like or really hate, if you book that photographer - point it out.
On a side note, I never get offended and often suggest that brides look through dozens of wedding magazines, when you see a photo you want, cut it out and show me. If I can deliver to you exactly what you want, then you will be very happy.
When your happy with my photography services you will recommend me to others whether it be brides getting married or friend / family members looking for portraits of themselves or their children / pets.
Simple rules of Photography.... - remember for every rule there is an exception.
I am letting you know this because its the honest and fair thing to do. When I first started to shoot weddings, I did not have a wedding portfolio to show people, I did not have enlargements and I definitely did not have albums to show people. I did have an extensive portfolio of Fashion, Glamour, Landscapes etc. In photography, as a photographer you look at things different to normal people (No photographers are not abnormal, well most of us anyway)
A photographer looks at light and shadows, they look at depth of field (how in focus the background / forground is) we balance a mixture of God's light and man made light and we look to freeze time at the perfect moment, a moment that brings a smile to your face and a memory into your mind.
Why am I telling you this ? Because when I first started to shoot weddings I needed people to trust me and trust in my photography. On your quest to find the perfect wedding photographer you may come across someone who's photos are amazing, someone who really does know what to look for and how to balance light, someone who can control time and capture your wedding in such a wonderful way that it will bring tears to your eyes. My advice is not hard and fast, if you find such a person and you feel they will do a great job on your wedding photos, go for it ! - Just because they don't have a wedding portfolio, doesn't mean they wont make a good job.
The flip side of this is, if you find someone with a medicor portfolio - RUN for the hills - Your day is too precious to spoil it.
Okay, enough of me jabbering on (or Jibbering on as my mother says) If you click below you can see my prices and samples of weddings I have shot, I have tried to give you enough information to be helpful but not too much that you don't need to call me and ask me a few things.
I hope your wedding day goes as great as ours did, and whoever you choose to shoot your wedding photos, I hope you like them as much as we love ours.
Best of luck to you - and again, thanks for stopping by our website.
